Everex, computer manufacture from Fremont, California, United States, will become closest competitor of Taiwan Company, AsusTek Computer Inc. The reason is, not long after Asus launchs its Eee PC cheap laptop, Everex launchs similar laptop so called CloudBook.

This $399 laptop will be available in Wal-Mart shops in United States starts next 25 January. What differentiates CloudBook with Eee PC is it faster chipset, namely 1,2 gigahertz from Via (Eee PC uses Intel Celeron 900 megahertzs); bigger capacity hard disk, namely 30 GB (big enough to install Windows XP and Microsoft Office); and Linux Ubuntu operating system (Eee PC uses Linux Xandros).

Measuring 9 inch length and 2 pounds in weight, the Everex CloudBook provides users seeking the hottest in mobile computing. With its 1.2GHz VIA C7-M ULV mobile processor, the laptop averages 5 hours of battery life on a 4-cell, lithium-ion battery. Unlike its competitors, the CloudBook also features 30GB of internal storage, digital video output, 4-in-1 card reader and 1.3MP webcam.The LCD screen equal to Eee PC, namely 7 inch widescreen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution. 512 MB RAM; built-in 802.11b/g; pre-instal software, including OpenOffice 2.3 and Firefox; and link to Google Documents, Wikipedia, and YouTube.

With its dimension, specification and energy efficient design, users will satisfied with its performance and features. 9 Inches, 2 pounds, 5 hours of battery life. Surf, email, blog, IM, Skype, compute. Cloud computing makes it simple and easy for everyone.

Meanwhile, Mary Lou Jepsen, ex- Chief of Technology Officer One Laptop per Child, found a company so called Pixel Qi, which planning to makes laptop at the price of US$ 75. Jepsen is the inventor of low cost and low energy screen technology. The company will make commercial the screen technology.
